Big news! I'm going out on the road with my longtime pal and best girl TRISTAN PRETTYMAN (new album Cedar+Gold is out now--get it!). Lately I've been writing new songs by myself in New York, and it made me kind of miss playing things very stripped down, so I decided to challenge myself and go out there with just a guitar and me. "I love my career. I love my job. I couldn't have picked a better job. This job picked me, and I answered the call..." --Steve PoltzI'm very happy to announce one of my favorite interviews to date with dear friend, troubadour, award winning singer-songwriter, and world traveller, STEVE POLTZ. After an organic, grass-fed, eco-friendly, locally-harvested, Portlandy lunch & some strong Stumptown coffee, Steve and I had an unforgettable conversation for the AM Radio podcast.
Big news! The "PDXOXO" podcast has been re-titled.Although I love the name PDXOXO, the more I travelled around and interviewed people in San Diego, New York, Los Angeles, and Portland, it became apparent that "PDXOXO" didn't accurately describe what I'm trying to do on the program--it's not a show about loving Portland so much as it's a platform for me to talk to my fellow musicians, artists, comedians, and entertainers about what they do. It's a way of integrating my radio history back into the picture, too. So, THANK YOU to everyone on Twitter, and my musician pal Joshua Radin, for helping to come up with the new name: "AM Radio with Anya Marina." The AM Radio podcast seems more apropos, and, well, my initials are easier to explain than PDXOXO.Onward!Follow us on Twitter at twitter.com/AMradiopod and email suggestions to AMradiopod [at] gmail [dot] com
STREAM or DOWNLOAD the latest episode of PDXOXO with ANYA MARINA. In episode 4, Anya interviews longtime San Diego gal-pal Tristan Prettyman about her beginnings in the San Diego songwriting scene, covering Lisa Loeb in talent shows, her dark side, getting disillusioned with the last record, divine inspiration, surfing, the alchemy of love and heartbreak, and finding inspiration and "walking through the honesty door" on her new album Cedar+Gold.
PDXOXO Episode 2: with guest Michael Halloran is coming soon, and it's a doozie--a two-parter! In the meantime, CLICK HERE FOR A VIDEO TEASER.
I'm bringing my PDXOXO show to New York, so I was thinking about altering the name to reflect the city we're in--NYXOXO? NYCXOXO? or JFKXOXO if we're doing airport codes.
Either way, it'll be a night to remember with appearances by some of my very favorite funny people like:
...and a set of music from me! I'll bring the new Felony Flats tote bags and some sweet Portland bicycle guy t-shirts as well as signed copies of the new album. Can't wait to see you all. Get your tickets NOW and get them HERE! CLICK RIGHT HERE! or also HERE!
